National Sports Day is observed on 29 August to commemorate the birth anniversary of Indian Hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. He was born on 29 August 1905 in the Prayagraj formerly Allahabad. Major Dhyan Chand was the captain of the Gold medal-winning Indian hockey team at the Berlin Olympics in 1936.
The National Sports Day is Celebrated online in KV Udalguri on the 29th of this Month. Some of the Teachers went to School to conduct the online celebration. The Online programme went very well, attended by around 100 students and Teachers through online.
The Programme, started at 09:00 a.m. after the lighting of Diya to celebrate the Birth Anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand, and the National Sports Day 2020.
When the Lighting of Diya was completed Principal Sh. Sanjeev Kumar had a short speech on the importance of Games and Sports by interacting with the students. He mentioned how game can affect the life of a person either in good way or bad way.
After this, Sh. Raj Singh Rawat, TGT (P&HE) had an online session on the importance of National sports day, and a brief introduction to Hockey Wizard Major Dhyan Chand.
Sh. Rawat was followed by Ms. Mayuri Chouhan, PRT, speech and power point presentation on the topic 'Fitness and Wellness through sports'. She gave a brief detail on the different aspects of fitness i.e., Physical fitness and Mental fitness, their importance, their meaning, etc.
Master Parthib Paul of Class X represent the students and gave a short speech on 'Covid-19- fitness at home a feedback'. He emphasised on the work done during this pandemic, how to turn this pandemic into something positive and create ourselves a better person by engaging in various indoor and outdoor games.
At the end of the session, there was a video/audio presentation on Major Dhyan Chand.
The programme was anchored by Shri Anurag Pandey, TGT Hindi.
To commemorate the Birthday and National Sports Day, Quiz and Drawing competition were conducted for the students.
